Metrobank Japan extends more support for those affected by the Tohoku disaster
Metrobank Japan announces its charity program in support of the ongoing humanitarian
and relief operations for those affected by the recent disasters in Japan. For the month
of May, Metrobank Japan will donate a portion of the consolidated service charges collected
from its Tokyo and Osaka Branches. This is in addition to the JPY 1,000,000 initially donated
by the Bank to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Likewise, its mother organization in the Philippines, the Metrobank Group of Companies,
together with its partners, Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. and Mitsui & Co. Pte. Ltd.,
turned-over PHP 10,000,000 (JPY 20,000,000) through the Philippine National Red Cross
to the Japanese Government.
The unceasing support of the Metrobank Group to Japan stems from its working
relationships/partnerships through joint business ventures with Japanese-owned companies
such as the Toyota Motor Corporation, Orix Corporation, Mitsui & Co. Pte. Ltd., and Sumitomo
Corporation (Japan). Geared towards strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and
the Philippines, the Metrobank Group has always envisioned partnerships as an avenue to
promote better understanding, friendship, and cooperation between two nations. The Metrobank
Group has embarked on these initiatives to support efforts in Japan as a chance to give back
to Japan the goodwill it has extended to the advocacies and to the business of the Group.
